In order to obtain a temporary work visa in New Zealand, you must meet specific employment, health, and character requirements.
Temporary work visas are for people who:
If the role you are applying for is not on one of the Skills Shortage Lists it will have to be a role that is on the Essential Skills list as per the ANZSCO classifications and your potential employer will have to advertise and conduct a Labour Market Test to demonstrate that there are no New Zealanders who are suitable for the role. Immigration NZ may also conduct their own Labour Market test.
There are various other temporary work visas available such as Work to Residence, Study to Work, Religious Worker and others.

- Are coming to New Zealand for a particular purpose or event
- Want to gain work experience or work after studying in New Zealand
- Want to join a partner in New Zealand and work
